DESIGN

INPSIRATION

The most obvious aspect of biomimicry represented in the toy is the imitation of a palm tree. Palm trees are generally flexible in their trunks which translates into the Palm Tree toy.

A hidden aspect of biomimicry which was included with the Palm Tree toy is presented in the palm leaves design. The palm leaves design was inspired by an organism known as the mantis shrimp.

The mantis shrimp uses powerful hammers which mimic a hyperparaboloid. The hyperparaboloid shape was used when designing the launching palm leaf to provide the same powerful aspects.

In recent years, global warming has become a hot topic as it affects the way people live their day to day lives, thus, by proposing a long-term solution of planting trees the company can allow for customers who feel strongly about the environment to make a change.

The company is focused on improving the well being of consumers and society as a whole. The main focus of the company is for the greater good of society and the environment.

Castaway Co. propose an environmental incentive as the main strategy to grab the consumer's attention, by allowing the customer to give back to the earth with the purchase of their toy. The company promises that they will plant a tree for every purchase because they are promoting the awareness of their own environmental impacts along with the other manufacturing effects into their advertising campaign.

The team would like to reinforcement the image that they are here to make a difference within the industry by starting with themselves. The integration of ethical purchasing Castaway Co. hopes to deliver a special meaning that potential and repeat consumers can connect with.
